Samenvatting
Schoonheid tegen een achtergrond van schijnbaar verval
Casper Faasen's roots as a painter are evident in his photographic work. Besides painterly subjects and compositions, Faassen uses several transparent layers which not only give the spectator a sense of distance but also stimulate memory and association. He applies gold oil paint as a final layer of craquelure, referencing the beauty of time and decay.
His works are dimmed and subdued but at the same time rich in materials and detail.
This book comprises different series from his collaborations with dancers, painterly still lifes he calls ReCollections, portraits and nudes to landscapes and clouds.
